Sonny Landreth in Concert

Legendary slide Guitarist to play in Glenwood Springs this Fall

For Immediate Release August 9, 2010 – On September 24th, 2010 legendary slide guitarist, Sonny Landreth, as well as Nashville Star contestant Charley Jenkins will perform at the Glenwood Springs Community Center Ice Rink in one of the largest concerts Glenwood Springs has hosted at 6pm presented by Summit Talent and Events. Tickets are on sale for $18 now at all City Market Locations and at www.summittalentandevents.com.

Award winning guitarist, Sonny Landreth, is an American blues musician from southwest Louisiana who has collaborated with many greatest guitar players on the planet — Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Jimmy Buffet, Eric Johnson and Vince Gill -- In some amazing performances. Landreth recently played with Jimmy Buffett at his Gulf Coast Oil Spill benefit concert. He also played in two weeks ago as the show opener with Eric Clapton at the 2010 annual Crossroads Guitar Festival in Chicago. Bilboard magazine says “Landreth’s slide guitar playing is beyond brilliant, it’s singular. There is no player alive who can match the finesse and fire he brings to the slide”. “Look in the most rarified air in the world of electric guitar, and Sonny Landreth will be right there,” quotes the Houston Press. The Denver Examiner says he is “greatest slide guitar player on the planet”.

 

Opening the evening will be Utah’s own The Charley Jenkins Band.  Jenkins is know for his top 12 on NBC's Nashville Star and perform on national television with Billy Ray Cyrus, Jewel, Jeffery Steele, and John Rich. Charley’s career has been gaining tremendous momentum as he has opened for many top 20 country headliners including LeAnn Rimes, Lonestar, Montgomery Gentry, Kellie Pickler, Taylor Swift, Josh Turner and many others.

Friday Spetember 24th will be an evening of awesome music in the mountains. It is a monumental event for Glenwood Springs as this is the first concert at the Glenwood Springs Community Center Ice Rink. There will be a beer garden hosted by the Insitute for Civic Achievement as well as Rifle Brewing. The City of Glenwood Springs has been receptive to opening up the rink for an event of this type and Summit Talent and Events hopes to bring you top notch artists in the Fall and the Spring to this venue.

Media Release: Friday Night Flicks:

Free Classic Films to be shown at Two River Amphitheatre Fridays in August

Glenwood Springs, CO – August 2, 2010 -Valley Events, Inc., The City of Glenwood Springs and Bighorn Toyota present the 4th Annual Friday Night Flicks, a series of classic films to be shown at Two Rivers Amphitheatre August 6, 13, 20 & 27, 2010.

This year we are featuring four great classic films. On August 6 we will feature “Shrek” 2001, animated comedy film directed by Andrew Adamson and Vicky Jenson and starring the voices of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, and John Lithgow.

The second film in the series to be shown on August 13 will be “The Little Rascals” 1994, produced by Amblin Entertainment, and released by Universal Pictures on August 5, 1994. The film is an adaptation of Hal Roach's Our Gang, a series of short films of the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s.

The third installment on August 20th will feature “National Treasure” 2004, adventure film from The Walt Disney Company under Walt Disney Pictures written by Jim Kouf, Ted Elliott, Terry Rossio, Cormac Wibberley, and Marianne Wibberley, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, and directed by Jon Turteltaub. It is the first film in the National Treasure franchise and stars Nicolas Cage, Diane Kruger, Justin Bartha, Sean Bean, Jon Voight, Harvey Keitel, and Christopher Plummer. 

 And our finale flick on August 27th will be “Finding Nemo” 2003, computer-animated film written by Andrew Stanton, directed by Stanton and Lee Unkrich and produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures.

Parking will is very limited. We encourage you to walk, bike or carpool with your friends. Arrive early for the best spots to sit and park. Films will begin at dusk (around ), and gates will open at .
